The Central Bank of Belize has announced that its new 2025 banknote series will enter circulation on 4 August 2025, introducing redesigned notes with enhanced security features and updated themes and portraits. The central bank said the exchange rate is unchanged at BZ$2 to US$1. The new notes will be available at all domestic banks from the circulation date, while ATM dispensing will be phased in as machines are configured, with all ATMs expected to begin dispensing the new banknotes shortly after 4 August 2025. Existing banknotes will remain legal tender, but the public is encouraged to deposit older notes with financial institutions so they can be phased out of circulation.
