The Central Bank of Mexico has opened a public consultation on draft amendments to its rules for credit information companies and their users, as well as to the requirements governing the information that financial entities must provide to those companies. For Circular 27/2008, the draft reforms would update customer identification, authentication and authorisation processes for issuing credit reports and special credit reports, clarify requirements and procedures for receiving and handling report requests, and introduce additional customer-protection measures for complaints relating to those reports. The proposal also clarifies timelines for deleting information on credit operations with outstanding balances below the equivalent of 1,000 units of investment (UDIs) and seeks to optimise the periodic information submissions that credit information companies provide to the Central Bank of Mexico. For Circular 17/2014, the draft reforms aim to standardise and improve the quality of information on financing and indebtedness of individuals, households and companies in Mexico. Comments must be submitted through the Central Bank of Mexico’s online consultation portal between 4 March and 17 April 2026 (18:00).
