The Belgium Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) issued a warning about fraudulent websites and “investment firms” claiming to be authorised by the FSMA and using counterfeit FSMA certificates in communications with consumers. The FSMA said the certificates are entirely fake and identified the entities observed using them as Aether Groups Inc. (aethergroups.com), Alphixmine Incorporation (alphixmine.com), B-Smartfolio Inc. (b-smartfolio.com), Dreamquest Ltd. (dreamquestlimited.com), Maxi Wealth Inc. (maxi-wealth.org), Mediterranean Holdings Limited (mediterraneanholdings.com) and Rexivea Miners Inc. It stated these entities are not registered with the FSMA and lack the authorisation required to offer financial services in or from Belgium, and that they appear to be committing investment fraud; the cases have been forwarded to the judicial authorities. The regulator directed consumers to use its “Check your provider” tool to verify authorisation and reiterated it is not competent to recover lost investments or seek compensation, will not demand tax payments, and will never request consumers’ financial information or payment for services.
