The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), together with the Tanzania Insurance Dispute Mediator Office (TIO), held an insurance education session for women entrepreneurs in Arusha Region ahead of the Women in the Financial Sector Summit organised by TAWiFA. The session, hosted at the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s Office hall, encouraged women to insure their businesses to enable compensation when disasters occur. Insurance Dispute Mediator Margaret Mngumi highlighted that TIO will handle any challenges in tracking and settling insurance claims after disasters through a fast mediation process. Participants also received education on using formal financial systems to save money, including for purchasing life, business, health and education insurance for themselves and their families. The Women in the Financial Sector Summit is expected to take place at PAPU Tower in Arusha, with the Insurance Commissioner and Deputy Insurance Commissioner expected to attend.
