Estonia's Financial Supervision Authority (Finantsinspektsioon) reported that European Single Resolution Board (SRB) Board Member Tuija Taos and Resolution Planning and Decisions unit head Jose Manuel Panero Rivas visited Estonia on 15 November, meeting Finantsinspektsioon, the Guarantee Fund and bank representatives to review the state of Estonian banking and priorities for crisis resolution. Finantsinspektsioon chair Kilvar Kessler linked trust in banking to a clear, harmonised crisis resolution framework and reiterated support for the euro area Single Resolution Mechanism, noting the authority’s active participation in the SRB’s work. The SRB, operating since March 2015, coordinates euro area resolution authorities to manage failing banks with minimal impact on the non-financial economy and funding conditions, while responsibility for bank resolution in Estonia lies with Finantsinspektsioon.
