The Reserve Bank of India has updated lead bank responsibilities in Andhra Pradesh following the state’s creation of two new districts, designating Union Bank of India as the lead bank for both Polavaram and Markapuram. Polavaram and Markapuram were notified by the Government of Andhra Pradesh through Gazette Notifications G.O. MS. No. 517 and G.O. MS. No. 524 (Revenue (Lands-IV) Department), both dated December 30, 2025. District working codes have been allotted as 02X for Polavaram and 02Y for Markapuram, and lead bank assignments for other districts in Andhra Pradesh remain unchanged.
