Ecuador's Superintendency of Banks held the “Ciberresilience 2026: EcuCERT perspectives with a focus on risks and cybercrime” event to strengthen technology risk management and the financial system’s preparedness for growing digital threats, with participation from private-sector financial institutions and several public entities. The programme was organised by the National Intendency for Risks and Studies through the Risk Assessment Directorate and the Operational Risk Subdirectorate, in collaboration with EcuCERT and Arcotel. The agenda covered trends, challenges and good practices in cybersecurity and cybercrime, including the use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, attack modalities affecting the financial system, and prevention strategies for digital incidents. Speakers included Mariam López (acting technical director for control of telecommunications network security), cybersecurity specialist Diego Balseca, and police cybercrime unit officer Diego Valdiviezo, while Superintendent Roberto Romero von Buchwald emphasised coordinated action across public entities, the private sector and academia.
