Sweden's Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) announced that Director General Daniel Barr will leave the authority on 18 June, with Malin Alpen appointed as acting Director General from 19 June while a permanent successor is recruited. Barr will remain in post until his departure and will then lead an inquiry into how to strengthen the Swedish bond market. Alpen has served since 2023 as head of the Payments business area and has previous experience including roles at Getswish, Handelsbanken, the Ministry of Finance and the Riksbank. Marie Jesperson will act as head of Payments during Alpen’s period as acting Director General. The government stated that work to appoint a permanent Director General will begin, with Alpen leading the authority in the interim.
