The State Bank of Vietnam hosted Pakistan’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Kohdayar Marri, for talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, including closer engagement between the two central banks and practical collaboration in banking technology. The discussion noted the long-standing Vietnam–Pakistan relationship and the recent growth in trade and investment links, with two-way trade in 2024 reported at close to USD 1 billion. The State Bank of Vietnam indicated it is ready to share experience and support Pakistan on digital banking and payments technology, including QR code payments, and to cooperate on currency printing technology. The ambassador highlighted interest from Pakistani businesses in the Vietnamese market and called for facilitation in payments, foreign exchange, credit guarantees and investment capital procedures, while also seeking cooperation on QR code payments and currency printing given Pakistan’s continued reliance on cash.
