The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan’s Chairman, Firdavs Tolibzoda, participated in and spoke at the 7th Central Banks Forum of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (OIC-COMCEC) in Istanbul, outlining Tajikistan’s progress against four priority areas of the OIC-2025 programme. In his remarks, he reported that poverty fell from 32% to 20.4% over the past decade and that average monthly wages increased several times. He also highlighted financial sector trends, including bank assets rising by almost three times and a significant reduction in non-performing loans, alongside digitalisation indicators such as mobile and internet customers increasing dozens of times and the volume of cashless payments reaching billions of USD, which he linked to broader access to financial services and the development of the digital economy. The speech also emphasised support for strengthening regional solidarity and collective cooperation among OIC member states.
