The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) alerted the public to bank-issued notices about fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams that have been reported to the HKMA, with links to the relevant bank press releases made available on the HKMA website. The alert covers Chong Hing Bank Limited, involving a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen, and Chiyu Banking Corporation Limited, involving fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens. The HKMA reiterated that banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who has provided personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams is advised to contact the relevant bank using the details in the corresponding press release and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Wing Information Centre.
