The European Securities and Markets Authority has issued a consultation on draft Regulatory Technical Standards under the EU ESG Rating Regulation, setting out proposed operational and disclosure requirements for ESG rating providers. The draft standards specify the information to be included in applications for authorisation and recognition, the measures and safeguards to mitigate conflicts of interest where an ESG rating provider carries out non-rating activities, and the information to be disclosed to the public, rated items and issuers of rated items, and users of ESG ratings. Feedback is requested by 20 June 2025. ESMA expects to publish a final report and submit the draft RTS to the European Commission for adoption in October 2025.
