Angola’s Capital Markets Commission (CMC) held the closing session of the ninth edition of World Investor Week, a global initiative promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The 2025 edition ran under the theme “Technology and Digital Finance, Artificial Intelligence and Prevention of Fraud and Scams” and centred on activities aimed at strengthening financial literacy and investor protection. The closing ceremony, hosted at the Gregório Semedo University auditorium, included a panel on “Digital Assets, Scams and Online Frauds” focused on challenges linked to the digital economy and on promoting safety, financial literacy and investor protection in Angola’s capital markets. The panel was moderated by CMC’s Flávia Quissua and featured representatives from Bitcoin Angola, the National Bank of Angola, and the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange. The CMC also officially launched the fifth edition of the CMC&U Scientific Competition for finalist and pre-finalist university students, with winning groups to receive a three-month paid internship at the CMC, IT equipment for each participant, monetary prizes and other benefits.
