Bank of Indonesia published its March 2026 broad money (M2) statistics, showing M2 growth accelerated to 9.7% year on year from 8.7% in February, bringing the stock of M2 to IDR 10,355.1 trillion. The increase was driven by narrow money (M1) growth of 14.4% year on year and quasi-money growth of 5.2%. The central bank attributed March’s M2 developments mainly to faster growth in net claims on central government, which rose 39.2% year on year (from 25.6% in February), and to disbursed loans, which grew 8.9% year on year and were broadly unchanged from February. Disbursed loans are defined as loans only, excluding loan-type financial instruments (such as debt securities, banker’s acceptances and repo claims), as well as loans by offshore branches of locally incorporated commercial banks and loans to the central government and non-residents.
