The Central Bank of Estonia and Statistics Estonia published results from the 2024 Household Finance and Consumption Survey showing that Estonian household net wealth rose by 16 percent in real terms between 2021 and 2024. The survey also found lower debt burdens and lower financial fragility, alongside a shift from deposits toward shares and investment fund units. Median household net wealth stood at EUR 103,300 in 2024, up from EUR 43,300 in 2013 and 56 percent higher in nominal terms than in 2021. Financial assets increased from 10 percent of household assets in 2013 to 20 percent in 2024, while bank deposits fell to 40 percent of financial assets from around 70 percent in earlier years. Household debt remained below the euro area average. For a household with an average loan burden, outstanding loans equalled 11 percent of assets and repayments 7 percent of gross monthly income in 2024. Liquid financial assets remained below the euro area average at around two months of gross income for the median household, and the net wealth Gini coefficient was 0.66, broadly in line with the euro area.
