The National Bank of Georgia reported that its Governor, Natia Turnava, participated in the 24th Annual Bank for International Settlements (BIS) conference, “Central Banks in Times of Digitalisation and Fragmentation,” held in Basel as part of the BIS Annual Meetings. The conference examined how central banks’ roles are evolving amid digital transformation and global economic fragmentation, with panels covering digital finance, liquidity, and the interaction of fiscal and monetary policy, as well as broader operational and policy challenges. It included a keynote by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and brought together senior central bank leaders, including U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, alongside experts and representatives from international financial institutions; the BIS Annual Meetings also coincided with the BIS’s 95th Annual Meeting.
