The Moroccan Insurance Authority participated with other public and private sector founding members in the constituent general meeting establishing the Morocco Fintech Center (MFC) as an association at Bank Al-Maghrib’s headquarters in Rabat. The general assembly also approved opening the association to additional organisations. The MFC is intended to serve as a common desk for fintechs, support their development through mentoring, incubation, acceleration and skills development programmes, and help them navigate the regulatory environment and access financing. Its remit also includes promoting a collaborative fintech ecosystem through partnerships and networking, and encouraging research and development in financial innovation. At the inaugural board meeting chaired by Bank Al-Maghrib Governor Abdellatif Jouahri, the board appointed Mustapha Lahlali as Executive Director, designated representatives to a Monitoring Committee to support the executive, and agreed priority actions, the budget and member contributions.
