Payments Canada has launched a series of educational webinars to support public engagement on the legal framework for the Real-Time Rail (RTR), Canada’s forthcoming real-time payment system. The sessions are intended to help stakeholders prepare responses to a public consultation running from 20 May 2025 to 2 July 2025, with feedback to inform the legal framework underpinning the RTR’s safety, efficiency and resiliency. The four-week webinar series covers Payments Canada and the RTR (22 May), RTR access and participation requirements (29 May), RTR recourse and compliance including exception handling (5 June), and fraud management, including proposed fraud policies and centralized fraud capabilities (12 June). Webinars will be available in both official languages, followed by bilingual Q&A sessions, and recordings will be published on Payments Canada’s website. The webinar series runs alongside the consultation window, with consultation responses due by 2 July 2025.
