The Ukraine National Commission on Securities and Stock Market has created an Advisory Coordination Council on Corporate Governance to help adapt Ukrainian legislation to European standards and introduce international best practices. The body will serve as an independent forum where Ukrainian and international experts discuss reforms, assess the state of corporate governance in Ukraine and advise on regulatory improvements, with its decisions carrying only recommendatory weight. Members include representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, International Monetary Fund, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and International Organization of Securities Commissions, as well as regulators from Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Israel. The council also includes specialists from King's College London and consulting organisations, while the Ukrainian members come from the legal profession, business, industry associations and academia. Commission member Maksym Libanov will chair the council.
