The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a forum titled Financial Security Youth’s Choice at M Auezov South Kazakhstan University as part of its Fingramota.kz financial literacy project. The event brought together students, academics, financial market specialists, cyber police and public organisations to discuss personal finance management, responsible use of credit and microloans, the formation of sustainable financial habits, and the risk of young people being drawn into fraud schemes involving money mules. The discussion framed financial literacy as extending beyond budgeting and banking products to digital safety amid rising online fraud. Speakers covered practical financial planning, assessing repayment capacity before taking on debt, common problems linked to microloans and arrears with microfinance organisations, and available support and advisory options. Shymkent police’s cybercrime unit also outlined current online scam methods, explained how young people are recruited into unlawful financial operations under the promise of easy income, and highlighted the possible legal consequences. The forum ended with awards for winners of the Fingramota.kz anti-fraud video competition Grandpa Grandma Don’t Tell Anyone the Code, with the selected works published on the project’s Instagram page.
