The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has opened a representative office in China’s Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area to meet growing demand for the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and the verifiable LEI (vLEI). The move is positioned to support China’s efforts to strengthen cross-border trade and digital trust, building on regulatory momentum and the People’s Bank of China’s roadmap for LEI adoption. Led by Yanzhao Zhang, the office will focus on deeper collaboration with local authorities, expanding LEI and vLEI infrastructure, and promoting greater efficiency in global trade. It is GLEIF’s latest regional expansion, following the establishment of offices in Tokyo, Singapore, and Mumbai.
