The Albania Financial Services Authority published market statistics for January–July 2025 showing gross written premiums of ALL 15,473 million, up 8.98% year on year, and 929,459 insurance contracts, up 6.81%. Non-life business continued to dominate premium volumes and compulsory insurance remained the larger segment of the market. Non-life accounted for 91.34% of premiums, versus 8.63% for life and 0.030% for reinsurance, while compulsory insurance represented 60.25% of premiums and voluntary insurance 39.75%. Compulsory motor premiums reached around ALL 9,322 million (+13.13%), with domestic MTPL and Green Card premiums up 13.49% and 13.32% respectively, while border insurance premiums rose 1.29% and contracts fell 0.14%. Gross claims paid totalled about ALL 4,804 million (+0.90%), of which motor claims were ALL 3,685 million (76.69% of total, +7.87%); average paid claims rose for domestic MTPL and Kasko but fell for Green Card, and the claims figures include Compensation Fund claims reported by the Albanian Insurance Bureau.
