A statement from Algeria’s Prime Minister’s office described discussions with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Algeria–IMF cooperation and planned joint activities spanning finance, statistics, digitalisation and the rationalisation of public expenditure, alongside policies to support development and economic diversification. Georgieva cited the high-level conference jointly organised by the Central Bank of Algeria and the IMF, “North Africa: Connecting Continents, Creating Opportunities”, as an example of regional cooperation, and praised Algeria’s public policies and economic reforms, including its post‑Covid recovery and infrastructure projects. The Prime Minister pointed to reforms intended to improve the investment climate and support diversification, referenced infrastructure priorities including a recently inaugurated West railway line, and highlighted regional integration through national and regional projects; both sides emphasised continued joint work to address current economic challenges and strengthen stability and sustainable development. The communiqué indicated that bilateral coordination will continue to advance the programmed activities between Algeria and the IMF.
