The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) reported proactive monitoring and consumer support measures for insurance during the New Year “seven dangerous days” period from 30 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, selecting Phuket for on-the-ground oversight due to high travel volumes and elevated road-accident risk. As part of the initiative, the OIC Secretary-General visited the Tha Chat Chai checkpoint in Thalang District and met the OIC Phuket office to review local operating conditions and preparedness, including coordination with relevant central and regional agencies. The OIC also promoted access to retail microinsurance, highlighting two products for the holiday period: “Aun Jai Kham Pi” with premiums starting at THB 10 covering death from accidents, and “Ban Aun Jai” at THB 10 covering residential fire risk for households while travelling.
