The Kenya Capital Markets Authority approved the WSA Banking Index Exchange Traded Fund for listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, making it Kenya’s first locally domiciled ETF and the third ETF listed on the exchange. Issued by Wallstreet Africa Group Limited with Tradiam Asset Managers Limited as fund manager, the product will provide exposure to listed Kenyan banking equities. The open-ended fund will seek to replicate the NSE Banking Index by investing all its assets in the index’s constituent shares. Its units and underlying investments are denominated and traded in Kenyan shillings, avoiding foreign exchange risk from the underlying portfolio, while appointed market makers or authorized participants may support secondary-market liquidity and facilitate unit creation and redemption.
