The Jamaica Financial Services Commission has launched a consultation on proposed standards that would consolidate binding corporate governance obligations for all entities it regulates across the securities, insurance, pensions, and trust and corporate services provider sectors. The framework would replace dispersed requirements with consistent minimum expectations aligned with international standards. The proposed standards address governing body structure and responsibilities, director and senior management duties, independence, risk management and internal controls, conflicts of interest, remuneration, reporting and transparency. The commission is seeking particular feedback on whether the uniform framework can be applied proportionately across sectors with different structures, operations and risk profiles. Responses are due by Aug. 5, 2026.
