The Austria Financial Market Authority (FMA) announced that Birgit Puck, Managing Director of its Securities Supervision Department, has been appointed Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) Markets Standing Committee with immediate effect following election by ESMA’s Board of Supervisors. Her term runs until 31 December 2026 and she succeeds Rodrigo Buenaventura. The Markets Standing Committee covers regulatory aspects of securities markets and market infrastructures, including secondary market structure and transparency across exchanges, trading platforms and OTC markets, market integrity and surveillance and co-operation on market abuse investigations, post-trading clearing and settlement, commodities derivatives markets, and co-operation with energy regulators and supervisors for wholesale energy markets.
