The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that the daily average balance of reserve money fell by TWD 6.8 billion from June to TWD 7,547.3 billion in July 2026. Currency in circulation decreased by TWD 16.9 billion, while reserves deposited with the central bank increased by TWD 10.1 billion. Contractionary effects from tax remittances to the National Treasury and government bond issuance outweighed expansionary factors, including a net decrease in central bank certificates of deposit, government bond payments, Treasury bill repayments and public-sector disbursements. Annual reserve money growth slowed by 0.65 percentage points to 6.98%, although average growth for the first seven months of 2026 was 7.16%, compared with 5.88% in the same period of 2025. The central bank is scheduled to release August 2026 reserve money data on September 11, 2026.
