The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan has published guidance on the “Stop-credit” service, which lets individuals voluntarily prohibit taking out bank loans and microloans as a protection against financial fraud. The service is available through the egov.kz portal and the eGov mobile application. Activation requires submitting an electronic request through eGov, including signing on the website with an electronic digital signature or electronically confirming the request in the mobile app. Once enabled, a refusal marker is added to the individual’s credit history and becomes visible to banks and microfinance organisations that access credit bureau data, leading them to refuse credit applications; if a loan is nevertheless issued without the individual’s consent despite the active ban, it is stated to be subject to write-off. The restriction can be cancelled at any time, but it does not apply to pawnshops and other organisations that do not use credit bureaus for borrower checks.
