The Executive Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism has appointed Nicolas Vasse as the Authority’s new Executive Director, describing the decision as a milestone in AMLA’s operationalisation. The role covers day-to-day management, including implementing the budget, overseeing human resources, and executing operational activities. AMLA highlighted Vasse’s more than 20 years of experience across EU agencies and advisory services, including work at the European Securities and Markets Authority and the Single Resolution Board, and his current position as a Partner at Promontory, an IBM Consulting entity advising major European banks. He previously served for more than a decade as Head of Operations at ESMA and is expected to support the Executive Board’s core decisions on planning, budgeting, IT, and security, alongside oversight of AMLA’s daily operations. Vasse is due to formally assume the position in September 2025.
