The Philippines Department of Finance said a memorandum of agreement signed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas creates a secure data-sharing framework to improve the accuracy and completeness of the country’s foreign direct investment data. The arrangement is intended to produce more comprehensive and internationally aligned FDI statistics and support evidence-based policymaking. Under the agreement, the Securities and Exchange Commission will share relevant corporate registration records with the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas through its existing digital platforms, including the SEC Swift Corporate and Other Records Exchange Protocol and the SEC API Marketplace. The Philippine Statistics Authority will act as the central repository of FDI data, while the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will continue to compile and publish the official statistics. The authorities expect the system to improve the quality, completeness and timeliness of FDI data by integrating enterprise-level information with existing reporting mechanisms, with confidentiality safeguards aligned with the Data Privacy Act.
