At the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting under the U.S. presidency, Indonesia’s Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung identified three priorities for stronger, sustainable growth: structural reform and regulatory simplification, greater international cooperation, and increased innovation and technology use. He argued that reforms should reduce barriers to business and investment while developing new sources of growth. Agung cited Indonesia’s regulatory simplification, the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law, downstream processing of natural resources and development of higher-value industries. He also highlighted efforts to improve the governance, efficiency and competitiveness of state-owned enterprises through institutional restructuring and streamlining. Artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies could accelerate growth and productivity, but require stronger basic infrastructure, human capital and digital ecosystems.
