The International Monetary Fund, Thailand’s Ministry of Finance, and the Bank of Thailand issued a joint update on preparations for the 2026 IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings, which Thailand will host in Bangkok from 12–18 October 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The parties reported progress across core workstreams including construction, security, and branding, supported by coordination among stakeholders, and noted that the venue previously hosted the Annual Meetings in 1991. The update also set out the host theme, “Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience,” and highlighted the Bank of Thailand’s “Safe and Inclusive Digital Finance (SIDF) for Financial Wellbeing” agenda, including an intention to use the Meetings to advance a practical SIDF blueprint that other countries could adopt and adapt.
