The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic announced that DOP 1,000 banknotes dated 2025 will enter circulation on 17 February 2026. The notes will have the same security features as the DOP 1,000 banknotes currently in circulation, which will remain legal tender for all public and private obligations. Production of the new notes was ordered via an international public tender in May 2025. The notice highlights security elements including a denomination “1000” watermark, a feature for the visually impaired, microprinting, a latent image, and the Central Bank’s visual identity mark, and cites the constitutional and monetary law provisions under which the issue is made.
