The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has convened the Thai General Insurance Association’s miscellaneous insurance committee and more than 25 non-life insurers to advance the “Restaurants with Peace of Mind, with Insurance Protection” project, aimed at helping SME restaurant operators access insurance and use it as a risk-management tool while raising business standards and consumer confidence. Following a pilot in Khon Kaen, the OIC set an implementation plan for Q3–Q4 2025 focused on engagement with provincial chambers of commerce, with outreach already started in Songkhla and further meetings planned in Surat Thani, Chonburi, Krabi and Chiang Mai. In parallel, the OIC is developing supporting technology to register participating restaurants and issue a project certification mark, with the system expected to be completed and operational in Q4 2025. For 2026, the OIC plans to broaden awareness and participation in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Phuket and Khon Kaen, alongside activities to award the certification mark, and continued work on insurance literacy and product development for local business contexts, including tourism and restaurant segments.
