The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Martin Thomas as General Counsel, with responsibility for leading the Bank’s Legal team. The Legal team provides legal services to the RBA, manages legal risk, and provides strategic advice to support delivery of the Bank’s charter functions and priorities. Thomas joins from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he was Executive General Manager and General Counsel, Customer Services Legal, and has held senior legal roles at Deutsche Bank and National Australia Bank. Thomas is due to commence in the role on 10 November 2025.
