National Bank of Georgia Governor Natia Turnava met senior executives of 360T, a Deutsche Börse Group electronic foreign exchange and OTC derivatives trading provider, during SWIFT’s SIBOS conference in Frankfurt to discuss potential cooperation aimed at developing Georgia’s FX trading market and launching a 360T platform for local participants. Turnava set out an objective to build a medium-sized FX market that could reduce bid-ask spreads and increase turnover, alongside enhanced regulatory supervision to support orderly market functioning and prevent manipulative practices by major participants. The discussion focused on how 360T could help Georgian market participants strengthen electronic trading capabilities and create scope to expand into more sophisticated products such as FX forwards and derivatives, with the successful launch of the platform described as a key milestone; around 10 Georgian commercial banks attending SIBOS also joined the meeting. Turnava is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at SIBOS, marking the first time a National Bank of Georgia Governor has been a keynote speaker at the event.
