Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) chair Roberto E. Silva spoke at the Fintech México Festival 2025, setting out the CNV’s approach to tokenization and its supervisory perimeter over Virtual Asset Service Providers (PSAV), following the mandate established by Law No. 27,739. Silva underscored that Argentina does not have a dedicated crypto law and that, under Law No. 27,739, the CNV regulates PSAV rather than virtual assets themselves, except where a virtual asset qualifies as a negotiable security under the Capital Markets Law. On that basis, he indicated that tokenization should be addressed within the existing regulatory framework. Work is underway to finalise the PSAV rules that were put out for public consultation through General Resolution No. 1025 and, in parallel, to introduce a tokenization regime.
