The Central Bank of Egypt, working with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Supreme Council of Universities and the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), has launched a new “Bachelor of Banking Sciences” programme to be offered through faculties of commerce at several Egyptian universities from the 2025/2026 academic year. The Supreme Council of Universities approved unified academic regulations for the programme on May 31, 2025, under which students will receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce with a specialisation in Banking Sciences, delivered in English under a credit-hour system. The curriculum includes financial inclusion, digital banking fundamentals, FinTech, risk management, advanced regulatory frameworks, sustainable banking and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), and combines academic study with hands-on training and case studies in cooperation with banks. An EBI partnership agreement with participating universities was signed to coordinate delivery, and students are expected to receive accredited professional certificates in addition to the academic degree. The programme will start at several universities in the 2025/2026 academic year, with plans to expand to more institutions in coming years.
