The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) published an update on its special fundraising account for supporting Ukraine’s defense forces, reporting that almost UAH 9.8 billion was transferred for defense needs in August 2025. As of 1 September 2025, the account balance exceeded UAH 5 billion, after receiving over UAH 204.5 million during August. Since the account was opened on 24 February 2022, total receipts have exceeded UAH 83.9 billion, including the equivalent of almost UAH 62.5 billion remitted from abroad in multiple currencies. Cumulative allocations since the start of Russia’s full-scale war reached almost UAH 78.8 billion, with the largest amounts directed to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (over UAH 39.332 billion) and the Defence Procurement Agency (over UAH 23.586 billion), alongside funding for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection (over UAH 8.2 billion, with over UAH 8 million of previously unused funds returned on 25 August 2025), the National Guard (over UAH 1.649 billion), the National Police (UAH 1.65 billion) and other security and emergency bodies. The NBU noted that it updates the special account information daily and continues to accept donations by bank transfer or card.
