At the Indonesia Muslim-Friendly Travel Summit, Bank Indonesia launched a study containing recommendations for a National Muslim-Friendly Tourism Roadmap and outlined three initiatives to strengthen the sector. Deputy Governor Ricky P. Gozali identified the use of the Indonesia Muslim Travel Index to assess regional readiness, development of an integrated national roadmap, and training for tourism village managers to improve services and destination competitiveness. The measures build on the Indonesia Travel Pack, developed with the Ministry of Tourism and other partners in September 2026 to integrate destination information, digital connectivity and payment services. Cross-border Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard services are also intended to make payments easier for tourists and expand opportunities for local micro, small and medium enterprises. The program supports national targets to raise Muslim-friendly tourism growth from 10.28% in 2025 to 13.08% in 2029, as the global market is projected to expand from USD249 billion in 2024 to USD424 billion in 2029.
