The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) held a special meeting in Zanzibar to gather views and recommendations from insurance sector stakeholders on improving insurance services in Tanzania. At the forum, Deputy Commissioner Khadija Issa Said highlighted insurance as a key tool for protection against disasters and called for stronger public education on its importance. She urged insurers to increase transparency and integrity, particularly in handling customer claims, and to pay compensation on time and fairly to build public trust. Participants raised operational challenges and emphasised the need for insurance education, including on how to track claims, with a range of insurance providers present to respond to customer queries, including Bumaco, Icealion, Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, Milembe, Heritage, CRDB, Tanzindia and Jubilee, as well as a representative of Mtawanyo Insurance Company Grandree.
