The People's Bank of China published an update on Vice Governor Xuan Changneng’s participation in a Bank for International Settlements governors’ meeting in Basel and subsequent meetings with UK financial authorities, focused on international policy dialogue and bilateral monetary and financial cooperation. At the BIS meeting, central bank governors exchanged views on the global economic and financial outlook, improving global cross-border payments, the implications of non-bank financial institutions for monetary policy, and the impact of population ageing on financial stability. In London, Xuan met the UK Treasury, the Bank of England, the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority, with discussions covering China-UK monetary and financial cooperation as well as financial stability and regulation; both sides indicated a willingness to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the financial sector.
