The Bank of Italy, via the Computer Emergency Response Team for the Italian financial sector (CERTFin), launched the 2025 edition of the I Navigati cybersecurity awareness campaign to help the public recognize and protect themselves from online threats, with a focus on preventing online fraud including scams carried out using artificial intelligence and using instant bank transfers responsibly. The campaign’s central concept is “freezing” before acting, encouraging users to stop, verify information and protect themselves when under pressure. The campaign message, “Scammers on the prowl? Stop and stay safe”, is delivered through videos, multimedia content, interviews and expert advice distributed via the I Navigati website, social media and digital TV. It is promoted by CERTFin, which is chaired by the Bank of Italy and the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and managed by ABI Lab, in partnership with the Bank of Italy, ABI, IVASS, the Italian Police and a range of banks and other financial firms; it is supported by the Italian Data Protection Authority and Italy’s Cybersecurity Agency and involves major international technology firms. ABI has also published a digital guide with practical tips for using instant transfers safely.
