Italy's Ministry of Finance said Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti took part in Berlin in a meeting of E6 finance ministers from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. The ministers discussed how to strengthen the Capital Markets Union to accelerate integration and improve the overall efficiency of the European financial system. The discussion also focused on identifying a common position among member states while taking account of national specificities. Giorgetti said the finance ministers are working to define the contours of a high-level compromise that balances common interests with national interests, while final decisions will be taken by prime ministers.
