The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic has announced that DOP 500 banknotes dated 2025 will begin circulating on 2 June 2026. The new notes carry the same security features as the DOP 500 notes already in circulation, and the existing notes will remain legal tender for the payment of all public and private obligations. The banknotes were ordered for production through an international public tender in May 2025. The notice indicates that the security features remain unchanged and include elements such as the Juan Pablo Duarte watermark, a tactile mark for the visually impaired, a latent image, a color-shifting security thread, horizontal and vertical serial numbering, microprinting, and the Central Bank visual identity mark.
