The Securities Commission of The Bahamas has launched a consultation on revised fees for persons regulated under the Financial and Corporate Service Providers Act, 2020. The draft rules would replace the 2024 fee rules, increase certain fees and introduce administrative charges for specified regulatory applications and approvals. Money lending, payday and cash advance, and credit extension licensees would also pay a quarterly activity fee equal to 1% of new loan principal and any increase in an existing loan’s principal. Licensees could pass this charge to borrowers. The framework for application and annual fees, licence replacement and variation fees, and multiple licences would otherwise be retained, with the new rules scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.
