The Central Bank of Latvia announced that the Saeima elected Andris Strazds as deputy governor for a term beginning Oct. 1, 2026. He will succeed Māris Kālis, whose term ends on that date, and will oversee financial management, asset management, financial stability and personnel management. Strazds has worked at the central bank since February 2014 and has led its General Secretariat since July 2023. His previous roles include chief economist at the Latvian branch of Nordea Bank Finland, manager in transaction and financial consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and head of strategic development at Lattelecom.
