Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) president Roberto E. Silva used a San Isidro Lawyers College session on Argentina’s cryptocurrency regulatory framework to reiterate that the CNV has moved quickly since the passage of Law No. 27,739 to align the country’s approach to virtual assets with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations. Speaking alongside Financial Information Unit (UIF) supervision director Alberto Mendoza, Silva said the work was carried out with other agencies including the UIF to help Argentina avoid the FATF “grey list”. He also pointed to the adoption of a regionally “advanced” regulatory regime for virtual asset service providers (PSAVs), developed with input from industry participants and intended to comply with the law without obstructing innovation.
