The National Bank of Georgia hosted a World Bank expert mission to support development of the country’s payment infrastructure and the implementation of an instant payment system, including meetings with Governor Natia Turnava and a review of ongoing payment system projects. The mission’s concluding meeting, chaired by World Bank Program Leader Miguel Sanchez, covered the significance, benefits and prospects for integrating Georgia’s payment system projects with other countries’ systems, and both sides reaffirmed continued cooperation. World Bank experts also delivered specialist workshops for National Bank of Georgia staff on key aspects of implementing the instant payment system, and held additional meetings with public- and private-sector stakeholders, including commercial banks and payment service providers.
